My name is Stephen Smith, and my journey into funeral celebrancy was born from a desire to provide families with the same grace and compassion I sought during my own times of loss.
I believe in the power of stories to heal and the importance of a ceremony that truly reflects the individual rhythm of a life well-lived.
A Journey Together
Once I am appointed as your celebrant, I will be in touch to arrange our first meeting. This is usually held in person, though we can speak by video call or phone if that suits you better.
During this time together, we will talk about your loved one — their life story, family background, personality, interests and achievements. Your memories, stories and reflections will help me craft a tribute that feels personal, sincere and truly meaningful.
We will also explore the other elements of the ceremony. You may already have ideas for music, readings or poetry, but please don’t worry if not. I have a wide selection of thoughtful options we can draw upon to shape a ceremony that feels right for you.
After our meeting, I will prepare a draft order of service based on your wishes, including a carefully written tribute to the person who has died. I understand that not every life has been easy or joyful, yet every individual deserves a respectful and dignified farewell. You will have plenty of opportunity to review the ceremony, suggest changes, and share any further details you would like included.
Throughout the process, I will work closely with your Funeral Director to ensure that every aspect of the service is prepared with care and delivered smoothly.
On the day of the funeral, I will meet you at the venue. From the moment we enter the chapel, I will guide the ceremony, keeping everything calm, respectful and on time. I can lead the entire service or support others who wish to contribute.
After the ceremony, I would be honoured to provide you with a presentation script of the service as a keepsake.
